(Vienna/Innsbruck/Graz/Linz, 22-02-2023) From 1 March 2023, the application phase for the 2023 admission procedures for the study places in human medicine and dentistry at the Medical Universities in Vienna, Innsbruck and Graz as well as the Medical Faculty of the Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) will begin via the website www.medizinstudieren.at. 1,850 study places are available. The application deadline for the admission tests, which take place on 7 July 2023 (approx. 8 am - 5 pm), ends on 31 March 2023.

The joint website www.medizinstudieren.at provides all important information about the admission procedures and all study locations, as well as answers to frequently asked questions.

For optimal preparation, the website provides numerous exercise examples and information on the individual test parts and task groups as well as general processing instructions and guidance. Proof of a Matura or Abitur (General University Entrance Qualification) is not required either for online registration or for participation in the MedAT admission test. In order to be allowed to take the admission test, you must at least be in the last year of your stage of education. If one obtains a place at university, the university admission qualification must be verified as part of the admission process.

The admission test for dentistry (MedAT-Z) is primarily identical to the MedAT-H. Instead of the Text Comprehension section and the task group Recognise Implications, the task groups Wire Bending and Shape Mirroring are used in the Manual Skills test section.

A total of 1,850 study places
For the academic year 2023/24, a total of 1,850 study places are available for human medicine and dentistry, 760 of them at the Medical University of Vienna, 410 at the Medical University of Innsbruck, 370 at the Medical University of Graz and 310 at the Medical Faculty of the JKU Linz. At least 95 percent of the study places are reserved for EU citizens and persons of equal status with regard to access to studies, and at least 75 percent of the study places are reserved for applicants with a secondary school leaving certificate from Austria. However, this quota regulation only applies to the allocation of study places in human medicine.

A cost contribution of EUR 110.00 has to be paid for the binding registration for the admission tests in due time within the framework of the internet registration. This fee is a contribution to cover the costs incurred by the universities for the admission procedures. The admission tests will take place at all locations on Friday, 7 July 2023.
