(Vienna, 15-09-2023) The Youth Travel Funds Awards are presented by the Federation of European Biochemical Societies for relevant contributions to biochemical research. This enables young scientists to attend international meetings and congresses. This year's award winners include Emine Atas, PhD student at the Clinical Institute of Pathology at MedUni Vienna.

Thanks to the Youth Travel Funds Award, Emine Atas was able to attend the FEBS Advanced Course "Investigating metabolism in biological systems applying metabolomics" organized by the University of Liverpool. Recently, the award was given to selected members of FEBS who make a relevant contribution to the incorporation of metabolomics analysis in translational research in the context of current and future projects. Participation in international courses and congresses supports the young scientists not only expanding their knowledge, but also in building networks.

Personal details:
Emine Atas was born in 1995 and studied molecular biology, biochemistry and molecular biomedicine at Karl Franzens University Graz and Graz University of Technology. Since 2020, she has been a PhD student at the Clinical Institute of Pathology at MedUni Vienna (Lukas Kenner resarch group) and is working on a project on the role of PDK4 in prostate carcinoma tumorigenesis.
