Richard Crevenna takes over management of the "Living with cancer" initiative

(Vienna, 26 March 2024) Richard Crevenna, Head of the Department of Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation and Occupational Medicine at MedUni Vienna, has been elected as the new President of the "Living with Cancer" initiative.

The "Living with Cancer" initiative in Austria is a program that focuses on providing comprehensive support and resources to cancer patients and their families. The goal is to help those affected during their fight against cancer and improve their quality of life. The initiative offers a variety of services and programs, including psychosocial support, counseling, educational materials, financial assistance and support in navigating the healthcare system. The program works closely with medical professionals, non-profit organizations and the government to ensure that cancer patients receive the best possible care.

About the person
Richard Crevenna is a specialist in physical medicine and general rehabilitation and Head of the Department of Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation and Occupational Medicine at MedUni Vienna. He is also an occupational and organizational physician, geriatrician and interdisciplinary pain physician. His clinical and scientific focus is on the interdisciplinary and multi-professional treatment of functional disorders in oncology patients and oncological prevention and rehabilitation. For several years, there has been a special outpatient clinic for oncological rehabilitation and, under the umbrella of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Vienna (CCC), a tumor board for oncological rehabilitation, as well as the CCC platform "CCC-SMSCR" (Side Effects Management, Supportive Care & Rehabilitation) and the Society or Platform for Research into Oncological Rehabilitative Principles, GEORG for short.

Crevenna has been Chairman of MedUni Vienna's Disability Advisory Board since 2014. He is Junior President of the Austrian Society for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, President-elect of the Austrian Pain Society and President of the cancer rehabilitation platform "GEORG" and the Austrian Lymph League. He is also a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and the European Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine.

On April 11, 2024, MedUni Vienna's Department of Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation and Occupational Medicine is hosting a congress in the Van Swieten Hall (Van-Swieten-Gasse 1a) entitled "25 Years of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Oncological Diseases: Prevention, Pre-/Rehabilitation and Pain Therapy".
