(Vienna, 16 June 2026) Summertime is KinderuniWien time. The lecture theatre doors at seven universities and colleges in Vienna are opening to more than 4,000 inquisitive young people aged seven and above. It all kicks off on 13 July with the opening lecture on the microbiome, which, alongside the culture of remembrance and climate, energy & the environment, is one of this year’s key themes. As part of KinderuniMedizin, 62 events will take place at MedUni Vienna. Parents and their children can familiarise themselves with the varied programme and register now. Registration for the courses opens on 16 June.
From 13 to 25 July, it’s that time of year again: the 24th edition of KinderuniWien will take place for more than 4,000 children aged between seven and twelve, one of the most significant educational initiatives for university-level knowledge transfer in Europe. This year, six universities, one University of Applied Sciences, two research institutions and 600 dedicated scientists are taking part, offering young people exciting insights into a wide variety of topics – from technology, medicine, nature and the environment to animal health, law, economics and democracy – through lectures, seminars and workshops, whilst answering countless curious questions.
The approximately 370 courses on offer are as diverse as the world of science itself: "Too Hot for Earth" at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna; "How Do You Perform Brain Surgery?" at the Medical University of Vienna; "A Journey Through Space and Time" at the Vienna University of Technology; "At Home with Pigs" at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna; "Do Children Have to Pay Tax?" at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, or "What Should Be on My Plate?" at Campus Vienna University of Applied Sciences are just a few examples from the extensive programme.
