KinderuniWien arouses the curiosity of young researchers

All News

(Vienna, 22 May 2017) This year, KinderuniWien (Children's University Vienna) is celebrating its 15th birthday. In July, several universities will once again open their doors and offer more than 400 classes for inquisitive researchers aged between 7 and 12 years. This year, the theme at MedUni Vienna ("KinderuniMedizin" [Children's University – Medicine]) is: "Saving lives, helping people".

KinderuniWien runs from 10 to 21 July 2017, Monday to Friday. A total of 431 classes are on offer, 87 of these (from 17 to 22 July) at KinderuniMedizin, where 6,000 places are available. KinderuniWien ends on 22 July with the graduation ceremony in the Great Hall of the University of Vienna.

Central theme of KinderuniMedizin: "Saving lives, helping people"
Life-savers have to practice? Whether it's a road accident, a fire or a circulatory collapse: everyone should know what to do in an emergency. Incidents that require first aid to be administered mostly occur in our everyday environment; at home, at school, in the playground. There are many different first-aid measures, ranging from using the correct dressings for wounds to using defibrillators in serious emergencies. Anyone can learn First Aid and that is why we are offering a lot of workshops to teach it in 2017.

Registration opens on 1 June 2017 and applications for particular classes can be made from 17:00 hrs on 12 June. The collection day for passes and T-shirts is 9 July (9:00 – 14:00 hrs, Lecture Center – University of Vienna Campus, Courtyard 2, Spitalgasse 2, 1090 Vienna).

There will also be family lectures on the collection day (registration required):
At 10:00 hrs "Wanting – Having – Letting go" A little story about things that are important to us (Ulrike Bechtold & Harald Wilfing).
At 11:00 hrs: "Health from the laboratory: What role do bacteria play?"
Why the bacteria in our gut are so important (Holger Daims).
You can register for the family lecture from 1 June 2017 at: www.kinderbuero-anmeldung.at
