MedUni Vienna ranking 37th amongst the best young universities

Top position in Times Higher Education Ranking "Top 100 Under 50" retained

(Vienna, 30-04-2015) The Medical University of Vienna is once again the best-ranked Austrian university in the "Times Higher Education 100 Under 50" ranking published on Wednesday, which selects the best “young” universities. MedUni Vienna, an independent university since 2004, was once again amongst the front runners, taking 37th place (36th the previous year). In another ranking, the renowned QS World University Ranking, MedUni Vienna improved its position in the Medicine subcategory of the Life Sciences & Medicine category, being ranked in band 51 - 100.

In the "Times Higher Education Ranking", published for the fourth time this year, the publishers sought to highlight "young" universities established within the last 50 years as the next “education powerhouses" and to show which institutions are challenging the old, established Anglo-American universities. The institutions were ranked on the basis of 13 indicators from five different areas (research, teaching, citations, external funding and international activities), which the Times Higher Education World University Ranking also uses, albeit with a slightly different weighting.
