Relaunch of the Education section

On 18 February 2010 the "Education" section was revised and integrated in the existing web CD layout. This relaunch is another important step towards standardising the Medical University of Vienna website.

Work began on converting the home page www.meduniwien.ac.at to a new web corporate design (CD) in 2007, and this year (after the relaunch of "Education" with more than 300 pages and the planned relaunch of the "Science and Research" section) it is nearing completion. The web pages for departments and divisions are being gradually integrated into the new web CD under the supervision of the Public Relations Division.

The comprehensive changes in the Education sector were made by the Study and Exam Division in cooperation with the Public Relations Division and the ITSC. As part of the relaunch, the pages were rearranged and the structure was improved. The relaunch was preceded by intensive planning and checking of the relevance, logical separation and arrangement of the individual sections of the Study Division, and consideration of the experience from the daily work with the students and their questions and desires.

By switching to the content management system TYPO3, the employees in the Study Division can maintain their section independently. This means regular changes or updates of the contents on the page are possible. One new feature is the clear, easy-to-read News section providing ad hoc notifications of important changes and information. Thanks to the relaunch, visitors to the site can now generally benefit from easier navigation, not least because of the display of the page path below the main menu buttons on the website.
