The Center for Medical Data Science mourns the loss of Susanne Rom, who passed away on 2 January 2025 after a serious illness.
Susanne Rom was born in 1966 in Schladming, Styria. She studied Cultural Engineering and Water Management at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna.
On July 1, 2007, she began working as an administrative and documentation assistant at the Institute for Medical Expert and Knowledge-Based Systems at the Medical University of Vienna.
She devoted herself to her tasks with exceptional commitment and the utmost care and made a significant contribution to the smooth running of administrative processes. Her expertise and friendly manner were appreciated by colleagues in equal measure.
In April 2013, she moved to the Institute of Biosimulation and Bioinformatics, where she worked as a teaching administrator until her untimely death. She supervised the PhD program, the Master's program in Medical Informatics and SSM3 with great competence. Her work was characterized by a high degree of reliability and professionalism.
Her sudden loss leaves a huge gap. We will remember her as a dedicated, warm and helpful colleague. Our sympathies go out to her family and all those who were close to her at this difficult time.
Martin Posch and Tanja Stamm (Head of the Center for Medical Data Science), on behalf of all current and former employees.
