(Vienna, 07 July 2026) For the term of office from 2026 to 2031, Nicole Concin from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at MedUni Vienna and Igor Grabovac from the Center for Public Health at MedUni Vienna have been elected to the Oncology Advisory Board of the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection. This multi-professional body provides expert opinions on current issues relating to cancer prevention and acts in an advisory capacity on the strategic development of evidence-based patient care.

The key tasks of the Advisory Board, which was established in 2009, include overseeing the implementation and further development of the Austrian Cancer Framework Programme, as well as ensuring and continuously improving the quality of oncological care throughout the entire care pathway – from primary prevention through diagnosis and treatment to aftercare, survivorship and palliative care. The Advisory Board works on a voluntary basis and comprises experts from various disciplines as well as representatives of relevant healthcare institutions. It thus forms a key interface between the professional community and health policy in the field of oncology in Austria.

"Our election to the Oncology Advisory Board represents recognition of MedUni Vienna’s long-standing activities in the field of oncology, as well as our commitment to the Comprehensive Cancer Center Vienna. At the same time, it underlines MedUni Vienna’s role in shaping the national cancer strategy," emphasise Nicole Concin and Igor Grabovac.
