
(Vienna, 27-06-2023) Young researcher Pia Gattinger from MedUni Vienna's Center for Pathophysiology, Infectiology and Immunology has been nominated by the Austrian Academy of Sciences to attend the 72nd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting.
The Lindau Conference is a renowned conference for young researchers, which this year is dedicated to the discipline of physiology and medicine. Around 40 Nobel Laureates from this field of research have contributed to the diverse programme. Not only were lectures, Agora Talks and panel discussions offered, but above all a personal exchange with the Nobel Laureates and other "Young Scientists" was made possible. 635 young scientists from all over the world were invited to the conference, including Pia Gattinger from MedUni Vienna. She took part in a multi-stage selection process beforehand.
Personal details
Pia Gattinger studied biotechnology at BOKU Vienna. She completed her PhD studies as part of the international PhD programme Molecular, Cellular and Clinical Allergology, MCCA at the Institute of Pathophysiology and Allergy Research at MedUni Vienna. Since 2019, she has been working and conducting research as a Post Doc at the Institute of Pathophysiology and Allergy Research and has been leading a study with her mentor Rudolf Valenta since 2020 to measure the immune response after SARS-CoV-2 infections. She is also researching the development of next-generation vaccines and diagnostic tests that enable the determination of protective antibodies.
