(Vienna, 27 October 2023) Just one day after the publication of the Times Higher Education World University Ranking by Subject, in which MedUni Vienna reached place 95 in the “Clinical and Health” subject group and is therefore in the top 100 in the world, this top ranking was confirmed in the current Shanghai Ranking of Academic Subjects with places 76-100 in the subject “Clinical Medicine”. MedUni Vienna was also able to take top positions in other categories.
In the “Medical Technology” discipline, MedUni Vienna now occupies an excellent 28th place worldwide. MedUni Vienna is also in the absolute top field in the subject field “Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences” with places 51-75.
About the ranking
Over 5,000 universities were compared in the Shanghai ranking. The individual disciplines were evaluated primarily based on research performance. Criteria included the publication of scientific papers in the top journals in the respective subject, citations of these papers, the proportion of papers in international co-authorship and awards.
