(Vienna, 27 September 2023) The research projects of teams led by Eva Untersmayr-Elsenhuber and Silvia Wojczewski from MedUni Vienna were honoured at the "OIS zam: Forum for Health and Wellbeing 2023" at Johannes Kepler University Linz. The event, organised by the Ludwig Boltzmann Society's Open Innovation in Science Center, showcased projects in which scientists, citizens, patients and their relatives, experts and professionals work and research together successfully on issues relating to health and well-being.
On 22 and 23 September, a total of 63 participatory research projects by researchers and citizens were presented at the "OIS zam: Forum for Health and Wellbeing 2023" at Johannes Kepler University Linz. The Medical University of Vienna was represented with several research projects. Among all the projects presented, a total of six "OIS zam: Prizes" were awarded for the first time to projects that were rated as particularly relevant by the participants and should be heard more in public.
Among the award-winning projects is the Care for ME/CFS project, which is being carried out by a team led by Eva Untersmayr-Elsenhuber from the Institute of Pathophysiology and Allergy Research at MedUni Vienna and the Austrian Society for ME/CFS. The project aims to improve the care situation for ME/CFS patients in Austria based on scientific data.
The MigraCare project is led by Silvia Wojczewski from the Centre for Public Health (Department of Primary Care Medicine) at MedUni Vienna and the project team IG24, CuraFair, SYNYO and Ingrid Sitter/BetreuerinnenCafe Leonstein and aims to better integrate 24-hour carers into care networks in Austria and strengthen their social position.

The OIS zam: Forum for Health and Wellbeing of the Open Innovation in Science Center of the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft brings together people who want to create knowledge together and work and research together on issues related to health and well-being. The forum took place for the second time and presented projects in which scientists, citizens, patients and their relatives, experts and professionals successfully work and research together on issues related to health and well-being.
For the first time this year, the LBG OIS Centre awarded the OIS zam: prize to projects that should be heard more in public. The winning projects receive financial support from the LBG OIS Center as a prize to continue their successful research work.
