(Tokyo, 26 September 2023) Wolf-Dieter Baumgartner of MedUni Vienna's Department of Otolaryngology has been re-elected President of the Collegium Oto-Rhino-Laryngologicum Amicitiae Sacrum in Tokyo. The Collegium is the world's oldest and one of the most scientifically important ENT societies.

The Collegium Oto-Rhino-Laryngologicum Amicitiae Sacrum is an exclusive international scientific association of renowned experts in the field of ear, nose and throat diseases. The next annual meeting of the Collegium will take place in Vienna in August 2024 under Baumgartner's leadership. In its 98-year existence, the Collegium is now meeting in Vienna for the second time after 1959. Baumgartner has been President of the Society since 2020

About the person
Wolf-Dieter Baumgartner, born in Vienna in 1967, is a specialist in ear, nose and throat diseases at the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases at MedUni Vienna/Vienna General Hospital. He has worked at the Vienna clinic since 1992. Since May 2012 he has held a professorship in Otology & Cochlear Implants at Karolinska University Stockholm. He is a lecturer at the Rudolfinerhaus University of Applied Sciences Campus in Vienna and a member of the University Department of the Vienna Medical Association. He has been president of the HEARRING Group since 2017. Baumgartner published over 140 original papers (stag factor 37), contributes to over 750 other publications and has given over 1400 national and international lectures. He has successfully performed over 2850 active ear implants, many of them worldwide first operations.
