(Vienna, 15 November 2017) Kazem Nouri, Deputy Head of the Division of Gynecological Endocrinology and Reproductive Medicine has been elected onto the Committee of National Representatives of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) as the Clinical National Representative for Austria for the period 2017 – 2020. This is the first time that a member of MedUni Vienna’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has assumed this important international role.

With more than 10,000 members worldwide, the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) is the largest multidisciplinary specialist association dedicated to reproductive medicine and embryology. It was founded in London in 1985 by Robert Edwards (University of Cambridge) and Jean Cohen (Paris) and every year organises conferences, courses, seminars and workshops relating to all aspects of reproductive medicine, such as reproductive endocrinology, ethics, andrology, psychology, endometriosis, early pregnancy, reproductive surgery, safety and quality in artificial insemination, embryology, reproductive genetics and stem cells.

Every country with more than 50 members has a Clinician & Scientific National Representative in ESHRE. The National Representative's duties include offering consultancy on important Executive Committee decisions relating to science and education in the international sector, providing advice regarding the latest developments in the field of reproductive medicine and making an active contribution to ESHRE conferences.
National Representatives also act as a bridge between ESHRE and local reproductive medicine societies in their own countries, in order to improve collaboration at a national and international level.

For the next three years Kazem Nouri has set himself the goal of bringing numerous reproductive medicine conferences to Austria and increasing awareness about fertility and sterility among men and women.
