Erhard Busek first sponsor of a wax model at the Josephinum

Sponsorships to fund most important medical history collections and wax models

(Vienna 11th December 2012) It is now possible to sponsor books and wax models from the Josephinum which are of unique scientific historical importance. The first sponsor is Erhard Busek, Chairman of the University Council of the Medical University of Vienna.

The sponsorships will help to fund the restoration work being carried out at Vienna’s Josephinum, which is home to one of the world’s most important medical history collections. The Josephinum is most famous for its medical historical wax models and library.

Christiane Druml, Vice Rector at the MedUni Vienna and Head of the Josephinum, explains why the new sponsorships are so important to her: “The oldest book in our library dates from 1478, and the unique wax models from the 18th century. Preserving this treasure trove of scientific history is an expensive job, as you might expect.”

Druml continues: “We are therefore delighted to be able to announce Erhard Busek as the Josephinum’s first sponsor, and we hope that as many people as possible follow his example.”

Sponsorship available from Euro 500
One of the anatomical-pathological wax models can be sponsored for sums from Euro 700 upwards. Book sponsorships are available for donations over Euro 500. If sponsors wish to provide a lower sum, this will be put towards the general restoration projects being carried out in the Josephinum.

The benefits of being a Josephinum sponsor

In addition to the ideological value associated with providing a full sponsorship, there are a number of additional extras that Josephinum sponsors can enjoy: sponsors will be given a guided tour of the Josephinum as part of a reception, along with a sponsorship certificate. Sponsors’ names will also be published in the Josephinum and on the MedUni Vienna’s website.
