(Vienna, 16-10-2015) MedUni Vienna continues to be among Europe's top medical universities. In the Times Higher Education (THE) subject ranking 2016, it came out in 58th place in the "Clinical, Pre-Clinical & Health" category, making it the fifth-best German-speaking university.
Although, compared with the previous year when it occupied 49th place, MedUni Vienna has fallen out of the Top 50, it has actually improved its overall score from 63.4 to 65.0 points.
Several factors were considered in the evaluation for the THE Ranking. For example, categories such as teaching, international outlook, industry income, research and citations were all assessed.
First place was taken by the University of Oxford (UK), followed by Harvard University (USA) and the University of Cambridge (UK). The best university in continental Europe is the Karolinska Institute (Sweden) in 13th place. Of the German-speaking universities, the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (25), the University of Heidelberg (28), the University of Zürich (51) and Tübingen University (57) all come before MedUni Vienna. There are no other Austrian universities represented in the Top 100.
In the overall world university ranking, which was published a few days ago, MedUni Vienna improved its score by taking joint 201 – 250th place, whereas last year it was still only in position 251 – 275.
