MedUni Vienna among the best 200 universities in Europe

Times Higher Education Ranking 2016 publishes list of the best European higher education establishments

(Vienna, 10 March 2016) The Medical University of Vienna was listed among the 200 best European universities in the renowned Times Higher Education Ranking, which has recently been published. Austria's largest medical University shares joint 111 – 120th place, making it the second ranking higher education establishment in Austria, after the University of Vienna.


According to the ranking published by Times Higher Education, MedUni Vienna – an exclusively medical University – shares joint 111 – 120th place, making it the second ranking higher education establishment in Austria, after the University of Vienna (67th place). Only two weeks previously, Times Higher Education had ranked MedUni Vienna among the top 10 in the world for student-staff ratio.

Of Austria's 21 higher education establishments, Vienna University of Technology (place 121-130), Innsbruck University (place 141-150) and the University of Graz (place 191-200) were placed in this Top 200 ranking, alongside the University of Vienna and MedUni Vienna.

The list is dominated by UK universities. Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial College London occupy the top three places. In total, there are 46 UK higher education establishments among the best 200 European universities. Germany is also strongly represented, with 36 institutes listed. Overall, universities from 22 countries are represented.
