BBMRI.at – the Austrian Biobanking and BioMolecular Research Infrastructure
BBMRI.at is the Austrian node of the European biobanking research infrastructure BBMRI-ERIC, which is the only research infrastructure for biobanks and jointly operated by more than 20 countries and one international organization (WHO/IARC).
BBMRI.at consists of Austrian universities and biobanks, working together to establish a national biobanking research infrastructure aimed at accelerating biomedical research.
The goal of BBMRI.at is to establish a state-of-the-art biobanking infrastructure in Austria and to strengthen collaboration and harmonization among biobanks. These are key prerequisites for facilitating and promoting access to and use of biological samples and data for both academic and industrial research projects.
Biological samples and data collected in biobanks are valuable resources for innovation in personalized medicine and for the development of biomarkers, diagnostics, and therapeutics.
