Outpatient clinic for congenital heart defects in adulthood
This outpatient clinic, which is the largest of its kind in Austria, was set up in 1993 because the treatment and aftercare of adults with congenital heart defects (EMAH) in particular should only be carried out by doctors who have in-depth knowledge of the respective heart defect, the treatment procedures carried out, possible late effects and newly developed interventional and surgical techniques.
Close interdisciplinary cooperation with other clinics and departments ensures optimal care.
In addition to purely medical issues, there is also a specific need for advice on issues relating to everyday life and life planning.
In this outpatient clinic, adults with congenital heart defects (EMAH) and patients with Marfan syndrome are offered the entire spectrum of non-invasive and invasive diagnostics and treatment.
The range of services also includes the catheter-assisted implantation of heart valves in the pulmonary valve position.
