The pacemaker and ICD consultation, setting and care of children and adolescents takes place as part of the care in the pediatric cardiology outpatient clinic.
As in children and adolescents, in addition to the general reading and testing of rhythm problems and electrode and unit settings, other aspects such as growth, resilience and age-dependent different patient settings must also be taken into account, direct on-site care with the possibility of simultaneous examination, e.g. by means of echocardiography, ECG, LZ-ECG, X-ray or, if necessary, advice on other possible imaging in childhood and adolescence is particularly important.
For the care of all patients in childhood and adolescence with a wide variety of devices, we have access to the testing devices of all common companies as well as the support of the respective company employees if required.
The selection of the most suitable device and the electrodes required for the best individual setting for the patient (type of rhythm problem, age, height/weight and activity level of the patient) is discussed in detail with our young patients and their legal guardians in advance and planned and carried out in consultation with our colleagues in cardiac surgery.
In addition to medical care, psychological care is also offered if required - especially for our young, anxious patients.
