General information
On the day of admission, please come with your child to the cardiac outpatient department of the pediatric clinic on level 6 at 11 a.m. You will receive information about the admission modalities and the necessary documents.
After registration on the ward has been completed, your child will be admitted by a ward assistant (clinical examination, ECG, blood test, cardiac ultrasound, possibly X-ray). If your child has a cold or other infectious disease, the planned heart procedure cannot take place. If this is foreseeable a few days in advance, please let us know in good time - you will then be given a new appointment.
The nurses will discuss the daily routine on the ward with you and ask about your child's preferences and habits. Accommodation is in 2-bed rooms. For more information about the ward's facilities click HERE.
A parent can be admitted as an accompanying person with the child. Unfortunately, waiting times cannot always be avoided. We make every effort to keep these as short as possible.
If your child is admitted for a cardiac catheterization, you can read about the procedure HERE.
If your child is scheduled to have heart surgery, you can read more about the preparation and the procedure under Heart surgery.
To prepare yourself and your child for the time in hospital, we offer you a guided tour of the ward (contact: DKKS Renate Eichhorn, Tel.: 01-40400-32040) and you can also make an appointment with our psychologist psychologist before you are admitted.
