Every year, MedUni Vienna's Alumni Club makes a significant contribution to the organisation of the Medical University of Vienna Day. As part of the ‘Life Paths’ series, personalities from various medical fields are introduced and talk about their careers and experiences. This year, Anton Pollak talked to Anita Rieder about his life.

Arnold Pollak was Head of the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine until 2014 and was a member of several MedUni Vienna committees. He chaired the Senate for eight years from the founding of the Medical University of Vienna in 2004 and made an important contribution to the creation of the new university as a member of MedUni Vienna's Founding Convention. He has received numerous honours for his scientific achievements, including the Ingrid Leodolter Medal for his achievements in the field of toxoplasmosis research. Pollak has also been awarded the Golden Medal of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria and is an Honorary Senator of MedUni Vienna.

In the current issue of the Wiener Klinische Wochenschrift, Arnold Pollak published an article on “40 years of neonatology”.
