(Vienna, 14 July 2024) From 14 to 18 July, the lecture halls of MedUni Vienna will once again be filled with inquisitive children. Whether they are tracking down viruses, exploring the brain, practising as surgeons or putting together bone puzzles. The aim is to get children interested in the world of science at an early age.

"Polly Pocket Surgery", "Brain Training with a Difference", "Cell City – What's Going On in the Cell" and "Blood Cells as Superheroes " are just a few examples from the extensive curriculum. In addition, the young researchers can playfully track down viruses in wastewater as "virus detectives ", peel a grape with tiny instruments as micro-surgeons, or explore the anatomy of the body with a "bone puzzle". In the course "Stethoscope, hammer and cold hands: What's he doing to me? " the kids learn what doctors can hear, see and feel when examining their patients. In "Mission Mental Strength", a video game is developed together with the children to help them deal with stress and negative feelings. This year, children aged seven to twelve can immerse themselves in the fascinating world of medicine at a total of 73 events at the Medical University of Vienna. The full programme is available here.

More than 500 scientists from six universities, a university of applied sciences and a company are offering more than 350 courses for around 4,000 children aged seven to twelve – that's the formula for the 2025 Children's University. Until 18 July, children can once again attend workshops, seminars and lectures at all participating universities: in addition to MedUni Vienna, the University of Vienna, TU Vienna, BOKU Vienna, WU Vienna, the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna and FH Campus Vienna are currently open to curious children.
