The Examination Center for Victims of Violence
The Examination Center for Victims of Violence at MedUni Vienna offers people of all ages and genders free clinical forensic examinations in accordance with the latest standards – regardless of whether a report has been filed or an e-card is available. The aim is to identify acts of violence at an early stage, contribute to the investigation and provide the best possible protection for those affected.
In addition to documenting injuries and securing evidence, victims receive comprehensive information on further support services, such as victim assistance, psychological care or legal advice. Doctors can also take advantage of expert advice on forensic issues by telephone. In cases where no report has been filed, evidence and findings are stored securely for up to ten years to enable their use in criminal proceedings at a later date.
