
(Vienna, 30 September 2025) Gabriele Fischer, psychiatrist and addiction researcher at the Center of Public Health of MedUni Vienna, was appointed to the editorial board of Neurotorium, a non-commercial, non-profit, philantropic initiative. The mission is to improve awareness and knowledge of the brain and its diseases with assistence of international key-opinion leaders in Psychiatry, Neurology &Neuroscience.
Neurotrorium provides unbiased and freely available, online educational content created for clinicians, researchers & educators. Through awarding of educational grants, Neurotorium also enables others around the world to develop and deliver high-quality education about the brain. Neurotorium also organises scientific meetings and events at international conferences to facilitate dialogue within and between the fields of neurology and psychiatry.
About Gabriele Fischer
Gabriele Fischer is a consultant psychiatrist and neurologist and heads the addiction clinic at MedUni Vienna’s Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. For decades, she has dedicated herself to research in addiction, concentrating on the entire spectrum of SUD including behavioral addictions and associated comorbidities (eg ADHD, gender-specific & cultural aspects). In addition, her professional background includes to act as international human rights expert with a double affiliation at our University`s Center of Public Health, focusing also on socioecomic costs related to SUD.
Gabriele Fischer advises WHO and UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime), is Project Leader for numerous EU & NIH projects and, in addition to her international activities (like setting up a treatment program for opioid-dependent women in Afghanistan), nationally she also serves as a member of the Supreme Health Council of the Austrian Republic.
