May is the International Bladder Cancer Awareness Month. In 2021, around 275,000 people will be confronted with a diagnosis of bladder cancer and 108,000 people will die from it. Bladder cancer is an insidious disease that occurs repeatedly, and frequently leads to relapses, even after chemotherapy or immunotherapy. It has high prevalence of more than 500.000 in Europe and is the most expensive tumor to treat per patient.

The Virtual Meeting on Thursday, 27th May 2021 with the focus on bladder cancer will have a live-stream with a live-moderation by Shahrokh Shariat, Harun Fajkovic and Kilian Gust. The lectures and pre-recorded lectures come from national and international guest speakers (Marek Babjuk, Piotr Chlosta, Maria De Santis, Eva Compérat, Kilian Gust, Frens Steffen Krause, Renate Pichler, Irene Resch) in German and English.

In order to empower bladder cancer patients and their relatives, a self-help group has been set up this May for bladder cancer with the support of MedUni Vienna's Department of Urology; a new website was recently created for it: https://www.stop-blasenkrebs.at/.

This event will be approved by the Austrian Medical Chamber with 3 DFP-Points.
