(Vienna, 12 March 2020) MedUni Vienna commemorated Bernhard Gottlieb (1885 to 1950) with the unveiling of a memorial plaque at the University Clinic of Dentistry Vienna. The expert in periodontology and oral surgery was a victim of National Socialism and was forced to flee Vienna  in 1938.

As a member of the Medical Faculty of the University of Vienna, Bernhard Gottlieb published fundamental principles for periodontology and oral surgery. When the Nazis took power, he was dismissed from the university on grounds of race and his teaching permit was withdrawn on 22 April 1938. He was forced to flee Vienna.
