The World Journal of Biological Psychiatry: now top journal, impact factor 5.564

(Vienna, 23 June 2010) The World Journal of Biological Psychiatry, whose Chief Editor is O.Univ. Prof. Dr. Siegfried Kasper, Head of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, has now achieved an impact factor of 5.564 and is therefore ranked 8 of 117 psychiatry journals. According to the classification of MedUni Vienna it is therefore considered as a top journal.

Published in the journal are original works on themes of biological psychiatry and also worldwide treatment guidelines on the different psychiatric diseases as well as consensus papers on current issues. The journal is divided into the sections Molecular Psychiatry, Neuroimaging, Psychopharmacology, Basic Science and Clinical and also takes geographical distribution into consideration with regional editors from Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America. The editorial board consists of well-known colleagues from renowned institutions of many different countries.

Each year there are 8 editions and various supplements. The journal appears both as an online version and also in printed form.
