Health Minister Sabine Oberhauser visits the KinderuniMedizin at the MedUni Vienna

Sabine Oberhauser gave a seminar entitled “First Principles for a Healthy Life”

(Vienna, 13-07-2014) This Monday, there was an important visitor to the KinderuniMedizin [Children's Summer School] in the lecture rooms of the Medical University of Vienna: Health Minister Sabine Oberhauser gave a seminar entitled “First Principles for a Healthy Life” to an audience of a crowd of interested children, aged 7 to 12.

The Minister was given a hearty welcome by Karin Gutiérrez-Lobos, Vice Rector for Teaching, Gender and Diversity of the Medical University of Vienna. Her talk to her young students contained tips about a healthy lifestyle and emphasised the importance of healthy eating, exercise and the risk of smoking.

The Kinderuni Wien

The KinderuniWien is a summer project that has been organised and coordinated by the Children's Office of Vienna University every year since 2003. The doors of the University are then open for two weeks to more than 4,000 children aged 7 to 12. Six universities (Vienna University, Medical University of Vienna, Technical University of Vienna, Agricultural University of Vienna, Veterinary University of Vienna and Economics University of Vienna) and one technical college (FH Campus Wien) now take part. There are almost 500 teaching sessions and 600 scientific experts. The 2015 Children's Summer School takes place from 6-18 July.
