MedUni Vienna ranked among the Top 50 medical universities in the world

Category "Clinical, Pre-Clinical and Health": ranked at number 49.

(Vienna, 3rd October 2014) – The Medical University of Vienna has been ranked among the top 50 medical universities in the world for the first time. In the latest issue of the respected "Times Higher Education Ranking", MedUni Vienna climbed two places in the category "Clinical, Pre-Clinical and Health" from the year before, and is now ranked at number 49.

As a result, Austria's largest medical university now finds itself ranked 14 among the medical universities of Europe. The top three spots in the worldwide rankings went, as in previous years, to the prestigious universities of Oxford, Harvard and Cambridge. The rankings are calculated on the basis of various indicators from the areas of research, teaching, citations, external funding and international activities.

As last year, the former medical faculty of the University of Vienna –a university in its own right since 2004 – was ranked in positions 251-275 in the general worldwide university league table.
