Erhard Busek and Elisabeth Hagen, both nominated by the Federal Government, were already Council members at the MedUni Vienna during the preceding period. The Senate of the Medical University of Vienna nominated two new members of the Council: former MedUni Vienna Professor Veronika Sexl and Walter Dorner, who was President of the Austrian Medical Association until 2012.

In the constituent meeting on 18.03.2013, the four University Council members who had already been appointed elected neuroscientist Robert Schwarcz to the committee. Schwarcz, like Busek and Hagen, had already been a member of the MedUni Vienna’s University Council in the preceding period. The University Council elected Erhard Busek as its Chairman, a role he has held since 2008. The Deputy Chairwoman is Elisabeth Hagen.
