(Vienna/Innsbruck/Graz/Linz, 22-02-2016) The Internet application for applicants of study places for human or dental medicine for year 2016/17 at the medical universities in Vienna, Innsbruck and Graz as well as the medical faculty of Johannes Kepler University Linz begins on 1 March 2016. Applicants have the opportunity to apply for one of the MedAT application procedures at www.medizinstudieren.at until 31 March.

The binding application requires the transfer of EUR 110.00 toward the costs to the respective university and/or faculty. This amount covers the administration costs for the application, the preparation and organisation of the test. Admission tests are conducted respectively on Friday, 8 July 2016.

During the past years, the part of "Social decision-making", whereby the manner in which social situation decisions are made and the contemplations for the decision-making are examined, was new. This part of the test, as other components, was evaluated and improved.

Numerous exercise examples for the ideal preparation for the test are available at www.medizinstudieren.at. The website also provides detailed answers to all other questions pertaining to the test - from A for Application to Z for Zulassung (registration).

Contents of the admission tests MedAT-H and MedAT-Z

The admission test for human medicine (MedAT-H) is a multipart, written process and segmented as follows:
- Basic knowledge test medical studies (BMS): review of prior academic knowledge in the sectors biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics
- Text comprehension: review of reading competency and comprehension of texts
- Cognitive abilities and skills: this test consists of five task groups (numerical sequences, memory and retention, assembling figures, word fluency as well as recognising implications) and comprises cognitive basic abilities and skills
- Social decision-making

MedAT-Z is largely identical to MedAT-H. The test components of text comprehension as well as recognising implications are replaced by the review of manual skills.
