Young Scientist Association (YSA)

The Young Scientist Association has set itself the goal of improving and strengthening the networks that exist for young scientists at MedUni Vienna. The organisation of scientific symposia and lectures is just as important for the platform as establishing a good exchange between alumni and the MedUni Vienna Board.

More than 2,000 scientific projects have been presented at the YSA PhD symposia in recent years, contributing to the development of young scientific careers. Over the years, the symposium has successfully developed into a powerful and interactive scientific platform for scientists, bringing together students, colleagues and professors from various disciplines.

Starting with our first symposium in 2005, we have not only become a tradition at the Medical University of Vienna, but over the years we have also become a renowned event in the Austrian academic community.

We are delighted to see that over the years, the annual YSA PhD Symposium has become an event that successfully provides a powerful and interactive scientific platform for scientists by bringing together doctoral students, academic colleagues, supervisors and professors from various interdisciplinary fields. The symposium enables all doctoral students to expand their knowledge of new methods and technologies, exchange data and information with other students, and improve their presentation skills. In addition, participants can engage in discussion in a multidisciplinary scientific environment and receive valuable suggestions and critical input from experts from various fields.

We strongly encourage doctoral students, master's students and young postdocs affiliated with the Medical University of Vienna to join the YSA and become part of the scientific future of Austria and beyond.

The main objectives of the YSA include:

  • Improving the network between young scientists at the Medical University of Vienna and beyond
  • Organising scientific events such as the PhD symposium, workshops and lectures by international speakers with outstanding expertise in their field
  • Establishing a connection between postgraduate students and the Executive Board of the Medical University of Vienna
