Research interests

Dr. Kerschbaumer performed his PhD studies under the supervision of Professors Smolen and Aletaha, focusing on outcomes and epidemiological research in rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis, and has a strong interest in big data analysis and novel metanalytical methods. In his thesis he focussed on discovering influencing factors on efficacy results in clinical trials in RA and PsA. He had key roles in several international taskforces, including the 2019 and 2022 EULAR management recommendations for pharmacologic treatment of RA, as well as those for PsA in 2019 and 2023, and he was engaged as a co-methodologist of the EULAR taskforce ‘Points to consider for conducting trials in patients who are at risk for developing arthritis’.
