Research interests

My research interest is in quality assurance of medical X-ray imaging systems. In the early years of my research career, I studied the behavior of semiconductor dosimeters in the IAEA dosimetry laboratory. There I performed calibrations under various experimental calibration setups on dosimetry devices such as semiconductor-based X-ray multimeters used for quality control measurements on mammography X-ray systems. I then addressed image quality assurance in tomosynthesis. Starting with a prototype phantom, I developed and validated a breast phantom for quality control of the entire imaging process from X-ray projection settings to reconstructed slides. This included testing and selecting materials suitable for use in phantoms and developing a manufacturing process. More recently, I have also been involved in the design and optimization of phantoms for quality assurance of medical ultrasound equipment.
