Research interests
Our research is focused on retinal imaging and image analysis in clinical research. One part of research is designated to elucidate the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy by implementing novel imaging techniques. Thanks to a highly equipped imaging division at the Department of Ophthalmology and a close collaboration to the Center of Medical Physics early preclinical microvascular changes become apparent using ultra-high resolution imaging of the retina. Furthermore we focus on monitoring of the treatment response in order to find biomarkers for individualized therapeutic approaches for diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema.
Techniques, methods & infrastructure
Imaging Techniques:
- Imaging of intraretinal changes: Adaptive Optics OCT, Swept Source OCT, Ultra Wide Field imaging
- Imaging of microvascular changes: OCT-Angiography, Fluorescein Angiography, Doppler OCT, Oxymetry
- Imaging of neuronal changes: SD OCT, Confocal Corneal Microscopy
