The Medical University of Vienna International (MUVI) envisions itself as a leading international healthcare consultation group that consistently provides high-performance management, knowledge transfer, and academic medicine solutions in emerging provider markets.

The Beginning of MUVI

In 2005, the MedUni Vienna was approached to provide medical concept consultation and in-house management for an ambitious 330 bed acute care hospital in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. MedUni Vienna immediately recognized the potential mutual benefits of pursuing such international projects and instituted a subsidiary to manage international healthcare consultation engagements while accomplishing MedUni Vienna’s global medicine goals. Thus, the MUVI brand was born.

 

Clinical Care

The MedUni Vienna includes one of Europe’s largest university hospitals, the Vienna General Hospital (AKH), with approximately 1.800 beds and a main campus spanning 240,000 m2. The university also has a network of 11 affiliated teaching hospitals in Vienna. The AKH maintains an International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 9001:2008 certification, a globally-recognized indicator for hospital quality management.

 

Research

Of the approximately 6.000 total staff employed by MedUni Vienna, 3,600 staffers are scientific employees. Nearly 1.000 of these scientific employees are qualified research professors. Dedicated academic research space spans over 50,000 m². Interdisciplinary core research areas have been developed, with a particular focus on translational research connecting medical-theoretical developments and clinical practice.
