We are searching for:

Chemical-Technical Assistant

The Csiszar lab at the Center for Cancer Research, Medical University of Vienna is seeking to fill the position of a part-time (20 hours/week) chemical-technical assistant (m/f/d) position, starting in April, 16th, 2025 (employment limited until March 31st, 2025, extension possible by mutual agreement). The main research interest of the group lies in the understanding how secreted factors, with focus on the FAM3C/ILEI cytokine, regulate homeostasis and disease, including inflammation, cancer development, therapy resistance, metastasis and other pathological conditions.

Responsibilities of the position:

  • independent daily laboratory organization (e.g. preparing buffers and media, maintaining supplies, taking care of the equipment, curating databases)
  • molecular biological and histological processing of human and animal tissues (immunohistochemistry, Western blot, ELISA, isolation of RNA and DNA, PCR, etc.)
  • (primary) cell/tissue culture, sterile work
  • literature Research, database management, data screening and interpretation
  • quality control, quality assurance and quality management

The candidate must have:

  • Basic knowledge of molecular biology and biochemistry (acquired either via relevant BSc degree, training as CTA and/or via relevant experience)
  • Practical experience in basic molecular biology techniques
  • computer skills (MS Office, basic statistics etc.)
  • good knowledge of English
  • ability to work independently, high degree of personal responsibility, ability to work in a team, willingness to learn, reliability, flexibility, ability to work under pressure and thoroughness
  • Practical experience with histology (in particular immunohistochemistry), cell culture and mouse work would be of advantage

We offer

  • A salary based on the FWF-guidelines (for a 20h/w position amounting to 14x 1.349,-- gross (Brutto), without the opportunity to overpay based on higher qualifications
