At the Medical University of Vienna a position as
Assistant Professor in Neuronal Circuits for Social Behaviour and Learning
according to § 99 (5) University Law 2002 (UG) is announced.
The Medical University of Vienna is one of Europe’s premiere institutions for biomedical and clinical research. We are looking for a highly qualified scientist in the field of Neuronal Circuits for Social Behaviour and Learning with enthusiasm for inter- and multidisciplinary research, and commitment to teaching.
The candidate is expected to have an outstanding expertise and track-record in investigating neuronal circuits in relation to social behaviour, cognition and learning using 2-photon imaging, optogenetics and in vivo electrophysiological recordings to strengthen, expand and cross-link existing research cluster topics within the university, both at the Center for Brain Research as well as across the different Centers and Clinics involved in the Medical Neuroscience Cluster.
Your profile:
- Completed scientific or medical education with PhD or equivalent degree
- International recognition in the respective research area as evidenced by an excellent publication record and invited conference talks
- Successful acquisition of international peer-reviewed third-party funding, including e.g. ERC grant funding
- Educational and didactic qualifications including academic teaching and supervision of Masters and PhD students
- Experience in leading a research group
- Diversity and gender competence
- Experience in investigating neuronal circuits with 2-photon imaging, optogenetics and in vivo electrophysiology
- Experience and Engagement in public outreach
- International working experience outside of Austria
We offer:
The successful candidate will be offered a tenure-track Assistant Professor position (according to § 99 (5) Austrian University Law 2002) for a maximum duration of six years. If, during this time, the successful candidate meets the tenure criteria stipulated in the qualification agreement, he:she will be promoted to tenured Associate Professor. The gross salary for this position is based on the collective agreement for university employees (§49, A2) and may be adjusted depending on previous work experience.
