EUHA: Members’ Assembly met in Vienna

(Vienna 30-11-2022) On 28 November 2022, the Members’ Assembly of the European University Hospital Alliance (EUHA) convened in Vienna. Here, the heads of the nine leading university clinics in Europe exchanged views on current developments in the health sector. After six months, the Director of the University Hospital Vienna handed over the presidency to the King’s Health Partners London.

One focus of the Members’ Assembly was the exchange on new infrastructure models for university hospitals. In many cases, these take on the role of central providers and have a high volume of patients. Extensive modernisation work will also be carried out at the joint site of the University Hospital Vienna and the MedUni Vienna in the coming years. Under the heading of "Healing Architecture", the members discussed new construction measures that will continue to fulfil the tasks of patient care, research and teaching in the future.

University Hospital Vienna hands over the presidency to King’s Health Partners London

The presidency of the European University Hospital Alliance changes every 6 months and was transferred from Herwig Wetzlinger, Director of the University Hospital Vienna to Ian Abbs, CEO of the King’s Health Partners London on 28 November 2022. During the Viennese presidency the course for the expansion of the EUHA was set.

"Following a detailed analysis, the European University Hospital Alliance decided to accept new members at the Members’ Assembly in Leuven in June 2022. In recent months, under the Viennese Presidency, we were able to establish a solid basis for communication with excellent candidates who are highly motivated to work in the EUHA and who would add significant value to the EUHA," says Herwig Wetzlinger. Now, within the EUHA, the admission of two new university hospitals to the alliance will be examined and decided.
