(Vienna, 19 June 2024) MedUni Vienna's Clinical Department of Pathology has been awarded the title of ESP Advanced Training Center (ESP-ATC) by the European Society of Pathology (ESP).

ESP awards the status of an ESP Advanced Training Centre (ESP-ATC) in recognition of that centre offering training in specialised fields, which reflects the dedication of the Faculty to Education. The title of ESP-ATC is awarded to the institute as a whole. ESP reviews the status of ESP-ATCs on an annual basis.

The Giordano Fellowship (GF)  - named after Alfonso Giordano who initiated the foundation of the ESP - should help young pathologists to get in-depth experience in ESP Advanced Training Centres (ESP-ATCs) throughout Europe. The programme prepared by the ESP follows ESP’s vision for excellence in Pathology for optimal patient care.

The Clinical Department of Pathology has now been awarded this recognition, the special field offered for international fellows being uropathology. A description of the Department can be found on the relevant ESP-GF Programme webpage under Genitourinary Pathology. A total of two positions of 3 months´ duration each can be offered each year.
