The 19th Cancer Research Run took place on 4 October 2025 under the motto “Together we go further.” Around 4,000 runners, including many companies with running teams, sponsors, and cooperation partners, supported cancer research at the Medical University of Vienna. With a total of 46.239 laps (equivalent to 74.398 kilometers), the target of 30.000 laps was significantly exceeded.
Thanks to this achievement, sponsors Boehringer Ingelheim, Roche, Kuehne+Nagel, and Amgen increased their support and added an additional 17.500 euros. This brought the total amount raised for cancer research to around 275.000 euros. One hundred percent of the donations will go to promising research projects at MedUni Vienna. These aim to develop new therapeutic approaches and diagnostic methods for cancer, thereby improving the chances of recovery and quality of life for cancer patients in the long term. After all, the surest way to fight cancer is to research the disease and its mechanisms.
Looking ahead: Next year, the Cancer Research Run will celebrate its 20th anniversary. The run will take place on Saturday, 10 October 2026, at the Altes AKH university campus.
