“Research moves us! Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow.” This is the motto for this year’s MedUni Vienna Cancer Research Run. For the past 20 years, the Altes AKH campus has been transformed into a running arena for a good cause on a Saturday in October. The efforts of yesterday give hope for today and, at the same time, lay the foundations for the research of tomorrow.
On 10 October 2026, from 10 am, there will once again be an opportunity to be part of this movement, either directly at the Altes AKH campus or via the Distant Run on your favourite route. Whether alone or as part of a team: every participant makes a difference. Because every step drives research forward. And only together can we make progress.

Yesterday.
Yesterday, the first steps were taken and an idea became a movement.
For Ursula Kickinger, the Cancer Research Run has been a symbol of solidarity and hope for many years. After her own battle with cancer, she experienced just how much strength a sense of community can provide. This experience continues to motivate her to this day to champion cancer research.
Every step builds on the commitment of previous years. Because what began yesterday continues to inspire people today and makes research possible.

Today shows why cancer research is so important.
Lilli Gruber knows from her own experience just how challenging cancer treatment can be. At the same time, she has seen the progress that research has already made possible and why it remains indispensable.
For her, the Cancer Research Run is, above all, about solidarity: lots of people coming together to achieve something that goes far beyond their own individual steps.
