The most effective way to tackle cancer is to carry out research into the disease and how it works. The knowledge gained from this research makes it possible to develop innovative diagnostic and treatment methods.
The Comprehensive Cancer Centre (CCC) at MedUni Vienna and Vienna General Hospital (AKH) invites applications for research grants funded by the Cancer Research Initiative every two to four years. These grants are awarded to interdisciplinary, translational research projects in the field of malignant diseases. A high-calibre international panel of judges assesses the submitted projects and selects the best ones for funding. The next research projects to receive funding will also be selected through a call for proposals.
One hundred per cent of the donations raised by the Cancer Research Initiative through the Cancer Research Run go towards promising cancer research projects.
In early May 2022, research grants were once again awarded to young scientists at MedUni Vienna. A total of 60 research proposals were submitted, from which the jury selected fourteen promising projects.
