(Vienna, 07 October 2016) Michael Kunze, Head of the Institute of Social Medicine at MedUni Vienna for many years, has been elected onto the Board of Directors at the inaugural meeting of the European Association of Professors Emeriti in Athens.
The Association's aim is to promote the use of personal and intellectual resources of emeriti and emeritae and to foster international cooperation.
About Michael Kunze
Michael Kunze is a consultant in hygiene and microbiology and social medicine and an ordinary professor of social medicine. For many years he was Head of the Institute of Social Medicine at the Medical University of Vienna. Over the course of his career, Michael Kunze has held numerous offices and functions, e.g. member of the Superior Public Health Council, expert on behalf of the World Health Organisation (WHO), member of the Environmental Advisory Board at the Federal Chancellery and the City of Vienna Ethics Committee. He has received numerous prizes and awards, including the Grand Decoration of Honour in Silver for services to the Austrian Republic, the Decoration of Honour for Science and Art 1st class and the Decoration of Honour in Gold for services to the City of Vienna. Michael Kunze has had emeritus status since 2011 and continues to take an active role at the Institute of Social Medicine.
