Hans Lassmann becomes Honorary Member of the French Society of Neurology

(Vienna, 14 June 2018) Hans Lassmann, who was head of the Division of Neuroimmunology at MedUni Vienna's Center for Brain Research for many years, has been made an Honorary Member of the Société Française de Neurologie.

The former head of the Division of Neuroimmunology at MedUni Vienna's Center for Brain Research is a leading researcher in the field of inflammatory diseases of the nervous system. His findings relating to multiple sclerosis have led to new approaches in the treatment of this disease. In 2017, Lassmann appeared in the list of "Highly Cited Researchers" published by Clarivate Analytics as being among the 3,500 most frequently cited researchers in the world.

About Hans Lassmann
University Prof. Dr. Hans Lassmann was born in Vienna in 1949 and studied at the Medical Faculty in Vienna, gaining his postdoctoral qualification in neuropathology in 1983. He then took over leadership of the Experimental Neuropathology research group and also headed up a corresponding research group at the Austrian Academy of Sciences between 1990 and 1995.
Lassmann started teaching as an associate professor in 1993 and became Professor of Neuroimmunology in 1999, also taking over as head of the division of the same name. Hans Lassmann was the first Head of the Center for Brain Research from 2000 until 2007. He has won numerous national and international awards, carries out many different functions in various medical societies and is on the editorial board of several international journals, as well as being a frequent reviewer for "The Lancet".
