MedUni Vienna: Rector Wolfgang Schütz welcomes the appointment of Beatrix Karl

Karl knows the challenges faced by the universities from her own university career

The Rector of the Medical University of Vienna, Univ. Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schütz, is pleased about the appointment of Dr. Beatrix Karl as the new Science Minister. “Dr. Beatrix Karl knows the challenges faced by the universities from her own university career.” As a Member of the National Council and as scientific spokeswoman for the Austrian People’s Party ÖVP, she is also perfectly familiar with issues such as the Bologna Process and the demand for an increase in university budgets.

“I see the appointment of Dr. Beatrix Karl as a successor to Dr. Johannes Hahn also as a sign that the equality of women will play an increasingly important role in future science and university policies. I congratulate Dr. Beatrix Karl and wish her and ourselves much success,” Schütz says to conclude.
