(Vienna/Budapest, 16-12-2022) Bruno Podesser, Head of the Department of Biomedical Research at MedUni Vienna, received an honorary doctorate from the Semmelweis University at an academic ceremony in Budapest.
Principal Bela Merkely particularly emphasised Podesser's long-standing cooperation with various departments at the Semmelweis University. In his laudation, the Dean of the Medical Faculty, Miklos Kellermeier, justified the award with Podesser's outstanding scientific contribution in the field of cardiac surgery and cardiovascular research. In his response, Podesser emphasised that existing collaborations should not only be expanded, but that an exchange programme of young scientists was also on the joint agenda for the next few years.
Personal details
Bruno Podesser is a habilitated specialist in surgery and cardiac surgery and has headed MedUni Vienna's Centre for Biomedical Research as Professor of Laboratory Animal Research since 2014. His research focuses on the field of clinical and applied basic research into the cardiovascular system.
