(Vienna, 23 May 2024) Wolf-Dieter Baumgartner from MedUni Vienna's Department of Otorhinolaryngology has been appointed a corresponding member of the German Society of
Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery

Baumgartner is thus one of three active Austrians who have been accepted here.

About the person
Wolf-Dieter Baumgartner, born in Vienna in 1967, is a specialist in ear, nose and throat diseases at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at MedUni Vienna/University Hospital Vienna. He has worked at the Vienna clinic since 1992. Since May 2012, he has held a professorship for Otology & Cochlear Implants at Karolinska University in Stockholm. He is a lecturer at the Rudolfinerhaus University of Applied Sciences in Vienna and a member of the University Unit of the Vienna Medical Association. He has been President of the HEARRING Group since 2017. He is President of the Collegium Oto-Rhino-Laryngologicum Amicitiae Sacrum. Baumgartner has published over 154 original papers (Hirsch factor 38), is a contributor to over 800 other publications and has given over 1600 national and international lectures. He has successfully performed over 2936 active ear implants, many of which were first operations worldwide.
