The word ergometry is a combination of ancient Greek words. It means work and measure. We use ergometry to evaluate the physical performance of our patients.
We use a bicycle ergometer at our clinic. All children with a height of 127 cm or more can be examined using this method.
The level of difficulty is gradually increased on a stationary bike, while an ECG is recorded and blood pressure is measured at regular intervals.
Ergometry is an important tool for us in the diagnosis and assessment of the course of heart disease before and after heart surgery and in cases of arrhythmia.
